Basalt Generator in Minecraft

Lava flows over soul soil beside blue ice to regenerate one basalt block. Mine it from a raised stone-brick ledge without using redstone.

Flowing lava enters the cell directly above soul soil and next to blue ice, creating basalt. The neighboring lava source remains in place, so mining the basalt allows another block to form. The model shows the first generated block. Collection is manual and some drops may burn. This original layout has not been tested in game.

Materials

• 32× Stone bricks
• 1× Soul soil
• 1× Blue ice
• 1× Basalt
• 1× Lava
• 1× Lava bucket
• 1× Iron pickaxe

Build steps

1. Build the foundation: Build the 5x4 base at y=0. Use soul soil instead of stone bricks at (2, 0, 1).
2. Contain the lava channel: Place the stone bricks shown at y=1. Leave (2, 1, 0), (2, 1, 1) and (3, 1, 1) empty for blue ice, basalt and the lava source.
3. Place the blue ice: Place blue ice at (2, 1, 0), immediately north of the empty generation cell above soul soil.
4. Add the lava source: Pour lava into (3, 1, 1). It flows west into (2, 1, 1), above soul soil and beside blue ice, forming the first basalt block.
5. Cover the source: Place the stone-brick cover at (3, 2, 1), directly above the lava source. Leave the generated basalt open from above.
6. Mine and collect basalt: Use the south base row as a step onto the wall at (2, 1, 2). Aim down at the basalt at (2, 1, 1), mine it with a pickaxe and wait for regeneration.
