Automatic Chicken Egg Farm (Hopper Floor) in Minecraft

Build an automatic egg farm in Minecraft: a tiny redstone-free chicken coop where a hopper floor collects every egg into a chest.

Chickens lay an egg every 5 to 10 minutes. If the coop stands on a floor of hoppers, the eggs drop straight into a hopper and travel along a hopper chain into a chest. No redstone is needed. The coop is fully enclosed so no chickens escape and no monsters spawn inside.

Materials

• 9× Hopper
• 1× Chest
• 15× Stone bricks
• 57× Glass
• 8× Chicken

Build steps

1. Hopper floor and chest: Place the stone brick border. Place the middle hopper column facing south, the left column facing east and the right column facing west. The south-middle block is the chest that the last hopper feeds into.
2. Walls: Build two layers of glass walls around the 3x3 floor. Put glass above the chest too, so no chickens can climb out.
3. Add the chickens: Bring 8 chickens into the coop. The coop has no roof yet, so drop them in from above.
4. Close the roof: Place the glass roof so no monsters can spawn inside and the chickens stay in.
5. Collect the eggs: Open the chest from the outside. The eggs pile up there automatically.
